Light-weight packaging sorting plant

According to the National Waste Management Plan there was more than 3,4 million Mg packages in the municipal waste in 2004. Until 2014 the packaging waste stream goes up to the 5,2 million Mg. The structure of the packaging waste changes, particularly increases the part of the light packages, especially these, made of plastic. The package sorting requires the appropriate approach to the designing of the sorting systems, because of the small own weight of the packages. By the bigger amounts of the light-weight packaging waste it is necessarily to apply the advanced automatic sorting systems. The high automatic light-weight packaging sorting systems achieve the capacity up to 12 Mg/h. Sutco sorting systems have a capacity going up to 12 Mg/h generating automatically 10 different fractions. The capacity of the plant can reach over 30 Mg/h by the mixed municipal waste. Also by the light-weight packaging waste stream the detailed analyze of the waste composition is necessarily, with the special attention on the materials with the high market value (PET) and the waste that require particular constructional solutions (glass). Of the big importance is the: waste collecting, the prospect of the of the waste stream increase, waste management.

Rising costs, difficulties with the sufficient number of sorting stuff result in the necessity of implementation of the rational and effective segregation technique. Depending on the customer’s requirements an installation can be equipped with the following elements: feeding station with bag opener, trommel screen, aerial separators, NIR separators, iron- and non-iron metal separators, sorting cabins, pre-pressing buffer systems, automatic press. The bigger the light-weight packaging waste stream is, the larger is the need of system automation. The sorting personnel controls and verifies in that case the automatic separated fractions.

The required recovery rate of light-weight packaging should be achieved within several years. To make it possible it is necessarily, to implement the selective collecting systems of light-weight packaging and the construction of the functional, technological advanced and flexible light-weight packaging sorting systems. Providing the intensification of the implementation of these systems, we should expect the increasing volume of market valuable light-weight packaging waste.
